GCSE Astronomy at the Royal Astronomical Society - results are in!

Students who have attended the after school extra curricular GCSE Astronomy course were awarded with their grades in the summer of 2017.

We were very proud of all our students, achieving 12 passes in the exam, including 2 A grades, 1 B and 2 Cs. One student was only 9 years old when he took and passed the exam.

Students attended the course for 2 years, coming to the RAS every Tuesday evening after school. They learnt about the planets, practical stargazing and cosmology, and carried out practical observing such as viewing Venus from the Burlington House courtyard, and using the National Schools Observatory to take pictures of Messier objects. One student was awarded with 'Image of the month' on the NSO website.

We are so pleased to have so many alumni from the first ever RAS GCSE Astronomy cohort and hope to teach many more in the future. We wish the cohort the best of luck for their next endeavours.
